Can I use Pop-Up™ in the car?
No! Please don't try! Pop-Up™ is NOT a car seat. It has been designed and tested for domestic use when mounted on an adult chair.
From when can my child start using Pop-Up™?
You can start using Pop-Up™ from the moment your child can sit up by himself or herself, which on average is 6 months old.
How portable is Pop-Up™?
We don’t know about any other padded booster seats that weight just 950g and you can slide into your bag to pop open only when you need it. It is like having your Mary Poppins’ magical bag!
Until what age can my child use Pop-Up™?
The age limits are prescribed by the safety norms that are applicable in your area. The Pop-Up™ booster is compliant with the EU booster safety norms which puts a limit of 3 years old or 15kg. The Pop-Up™ booster is equally compliant with the U.S. booster safety norms which put a limit of 5 years. Just to be on the safe side, we also tested it for the international adult safety standard for furniture EN1728:2012. It passed!
Pop-Up™ is so light yet so strong. What's it made of?
It's not what it's made of, it's how it's made. The secret lies in the triangular geometry of our origami design. The triangle is the only geometric shape that cannot be deformed even when the corners are hinges. When the booster is opened, a whole lot of triangles are locking into place to create a construction that’s similar to a crane or a bridge. During development, once we had a sample made from 1.2 mm paper and adhesive tape that was collapsible and our adult designer could stand safely on it when opened, we had proof the mechanical design was sound.
Is Pop-Up™ certified?
Yes. Pop-Up™ complies with the international safety standard for boosters, EN 16120:2014 and ASTM F2640. The toughest booster safety norm ASTM F2640 requires a booster to resist a 25kg drop test 500 times. To give you peace of mind, we dropped 75kg onto Pop-Up™, not 500, but 20,000 times to comply with the international safety standard for furniture, EN1728:2012. It didn’t break.
Is Pop-Up™ easy to clean?
Yes. The fabric has a non-toxic coating that resists water and even tomato sauce and olive oil. The seat and backrest are a continuous surface, so no food can get trapped in the seams. Just a rinse and a wipe, and the booster is good as new. We also made all the belts detachable so you can wash it in the washing machine. Do NOT use alcohol or ammonia.
Can Pop-Up™ be mounted on all chairs?
On pretty much all chairs, yes. The large shoulder strap of the bag double up as large safety belts which run under and behind the chair. So as long as it’s not a closed-in sofa-like chair, Pop-Up™ can be safely mounted.
Does Pop-Up™ have a five-way or a three-way safety harness?
Both! Pop-Up™ comes with a super-safe five-way harness that can be transformed into a three-way safety harness by detaching the shoulder straps for when your child grows up.
Bamboo 3Dknit™ Bouncer looks so simple. What’s so different about it?
First, Bamboo 3Dknit™ is not just a traditional bouncer for babies. It transforms from a cradling hammock with bespoke support for newborns that prevents slumping, to a comfy chair that stimulates a baby`s wriggling skills, to a lounger for 5-year-old toddlers, extending Bamboo’s lifetime by a couple of years. The patented Dynamic Backrest (DBR) gives your baby the freedom to change position from playing to resting without your help. You can adjust the bouncer in an infinite amount of positions without removing your baby or disturbing their rest. And a nice bonus is the minimal and elegant design that blends seamlessly into any contemporary interior. Try out our AR feature to see how it looks in your home.
The frame bounces so gently but holds up a five years todler. How is that possible?
The secret lies in the combination of the patented geometry of the 3D curves and the areospace grade aluminium, a very elastic and very resistant lightweight material. The thin design of the upper part allows Bamboo to translate even the smallest movements of the baby into gentle bouncing. The patented 3D curves make the thin aluminium bar mechanically sound and extremely resistant. The result of this delicate mix is a frame with amazing precision mechanics without regulating mechanism; fewer parts means less chance for something to break.
What exactly is the patented Dynamic Backrest (DBR)?
A traditional bouncer traps your baby into one of 3 inclinations of the fixed sitting position you choose for her or him. Bamboo 3Dknit™ does not just bounce gently to soothe your baby; the Dynamic Backrest (DBR) gives your baby full freedom of movement while giving good support. A bit like an articulated office chair that follows your movements. In other words Bamboo 3Dknit™ adapts to the child, not vice versa. This very ergonomic solution helps your baby actively discover his or her body and develop muscles and movement coordination.
How do I use Bamboo 3Dknit™?
Bamboo 3Dknit™ has no regulating mechanisms, buttons or electronic gadgets. It is designed to operate autonomously to give your child maximum comfort, and give you peace of mind. The only thing you can operate is the lock for the Dynamic Backrest (DBR). And should your baby want to rest while sitting up, all you have to do is unlock the DBR and bring your baby gently to the resting position without disturbing them.
How long can my child sit in Bamboo 3Dknit™ each time?
Your child can sit in the Bamboo 3Dknit™ bouncer as long as he or she is happy. Rests are also fine as long as it is not for extended periods of time. Please remember, a baby bouncer does not substitute a bed. For this reason we recommend keeping an eye on your child’s needs and regularly taking them out of the baby bouncer for sleeps.
My kid is a bit on the wild side, how much can the frame take?
The frame is virtually impossible for a child to break the frame because there are no delicate regulating mechanism. When your child jumps onto Bamboo 3Dknit™, it can fold in two without the risk of breaking. The 3D curve makes sure that the frame returns right back to the same position.
When can my child start sitting in Bamboo 3Dknit™?
Bamboo 3Dknit™ is suitable for babies from about 3.5kg or 7.7 lbs.
Are any accessories available for Bamboo 3Dknit™?
No, Bamboo 3Dknit™ comes all in. There is no need for add-ons to extend the functionality.
How should I clean the fabric coverif it gets dirty?
The fabric is easy to take off and should be machine-washed separately (30°C). Please remove the inserted rigid supports from their internal pockets before washing. We recommend a gentle, bleach-free detergent. Do NOT use softener. Do not tumble dry and do not iron, it would damage the 3D spacer.
Can I store Bamboo 3Dknit™ easily?
If you wish to store Bamboo 3Dknit™ you can quickly take the frame apart and pack it away. Please do not recommend keep Bamboo 3Dknit™ forcefully deformed as it causes permanent deformation of the frame.
Is Bamboo 3Dknit™ certified?
Absolutely! Bamboo 3Dknit™ has been fully and extensively tested by Intertek - the renowned and accredited external safety institute - before claiming to be the toughest of its kind. Bamboo 3Dknit™ complies with the strict European safety norm EN 12790:2009 (Child use and care articles. Reclined cradles.) and North American ASTM F2167-19, and is probably the only bouncer that also complies with EN1728:2012-clause 6.17 for adult furniture. To pass, Bamboo 3Dknit™ must withstand 20,000 drop cycles of 100 kg on the seat and 30 kg on the backrest without any damage. It means it can be safely used by children up to five years old. Every single component is compliant with the CPSIA and REACH, one of the strictest norms to date regulating chemical substances.
Bombol says that Bamboo 3Dknit™ is certified up to a five years old toddler, but the label on the bouncer says it is only up to 9kg. How come?
Don’t worry, Bamboo 3Dknit™ is fully certified. The reason for this odd difference lies within the nature of the certifications. The norm EN 12790:2009 (Child use and care articles, reclined cradles) is designed for traditional bouncers and only allows certification for 6 kg or 9kg, full stop. Part of the requirements to get the certification is that the maximum weight is indicated permanently on the product. So Bombol has to carry the 9kg limit on the label. Bamboo’s innovation lies in the fact that it’s not only a plain baby bouncer, but that it can be transformed into a sturdy chaise longue. So, Bamboo has a second certification - EN 1728:2012 - as furniture in order to “upgrade” its weight limit to 18kg.
How ecological is Bamboo 3Dknit™?
We’ve taken several steps to reduce the environmental footprint of Bamboo 3Dknit™. We’ve extended the lifetime of the product as much as possible because what is not thrown away does not pollute. We encourage you to pass on the bouncer frame (after checking it’s still in good working order) and only change the fabric seat if needed. By counting on you to do part of the assembling of the frame, we reduce the packing size. Smaller packaging reduces shipping air, and thus reduces the carbon emission from transportation. What happens with Bamboo 3Dknit™ when you don’t need it anymore? It's almost entirely made of recyclable materials and easy to take apart for easy differentiated recycling: the frame is almost entirely aluminium, the seat fabrics and 3D spacer are entirely polyester, and the supports are 100% PE, which can be recycled with your plastic bottles.
Why the name Bamboo?
During our research we considered bamboo as a material, which is widely used in Asia for its combination of low weight, strength and flexibility. Although bamboo alone didn’t prove adequate for our bouncer’s construction, it became the reference point of what we wanted to achieve with our design.
Why not just use disposable wipes?
A quick wipe with sanitizing or disinfecting wipes doesn't disinfect an object. The chemical solutions generally need a few minutes to work, after which you should rinse off the chemical residues. These chemical solutions, including disinfecting alcohol, can also damage certain surfaces like touch screens. That's why mobile device companies advise against using disinfectants on screens. Disposable wipes are also, well, disposable. After usage, they end up on landfills, clog up sewage systems and contaminate seas and oceans.
Why is UV-C light the best way to disinfect your belongings?
The invisible high-energy UV-C light waves destroy nucleic acids, breaking apart DNA and RNA of any living organism and preventing bacteria and viruses to reproduce. In nature, the ozone layer of the atmosphere absorbs the UV-C light emitted by the sun. That's why all living organisms on earth never developed a natural defense mechanism against UV-C, leaving bacteria, viruses and even super-bugs defenseless against the deadly efficient UV-C light. UV-C light does not leave chemical residues behind, does not produce harmful smelly ozone and produces no waste. It kills the nasties without hurting the planet.
Can all UV light disinfect?
No, not all UV light is capable of sanitizing. UV light can be divided in 3 major categories: UV-A, UV-B, and UV-C based on their wavelengths:
• UV-A (315nm to 400nm) gives you that nice summer tan
• UV-B (280nm to 315nm) is less friendly and responsible for sun burns
• UV-C (100nm to 280nm) is the most dangerous because it is extremely effective at disrupting the genetic makeup of any living organism.
This is why only UV-C light is highly effective in killing bacteria and inactivating viruses.
Is UV-C light harmful to humans?
That depends. UV-C light is harmful to all living organisms, including humans, when the UV-C dose is big enough. If they are strong enough to kill germs, they are strong enough to damage your cells as well. So please stay away from any UV-C devices that can expose you to strong direct UV-C light.
Is my phone really that dirty?
The most touched objects are often the dirtiest. An average person looks at their phone 96 times per day and only washes their hands 8.6 times per day. In between each pick up you are constantly touching doorknobs, tables, chairs, keyboards, mouses, etc. All the nasties we touch are transferred to our phone. In addition, our phones are warm and stored in dark places like purses and pockets, creating the perfect conditions for germs to multiply at an accelerated rate. This makes your phone home to more germs than an average public restroom.
How does Blast UV™ performance compare to a normal UV-C sanitizer?
To really compare UV-C devices, you should not only look at the power output of the UV-C light source. What really matters is the UV-C dose, meaning the UV-C radiation at the object's surface. In other words, a weaker UV-C source, a bigger distance between the object and the UV-C source and a shorter the exposure time all result in a lower UV-C dose. Blast UV™ has a blistering UV-C dose, resulting in a disinfection rate up to 99.999999% for common bacteria compared to the average rate of 99.9% for most common UV-C disinfecting or sanitizing devices.
Why do test certificates not tell the entire story?
Many UV-C devices wave with Lab certificates, but these Lab tests are often performed by putting the germs up close to the LEDs, but inside any UV-C disinfection device, the objects are actually further away from the UV-C source and therefore the UV-C radiation is less intense at the surface of the object resulting in inferior disinfection performance.
To guarantee enough UV-C radiation everywhere - even at the bottom of Blast UV™ - we use 3 ultra-powerful, sapphire, gold-plated 20mW UV-C LEDs and an ultra-reflective lining to intensify the UV-C dose.
What is so special about the Porex Virtek® lining?
Mmirror or metallic surfaces reflect all light, right? Not quite, they absorb quite a bit of the UV-C light. To make the most from the power of the UV-C LED’s, Blast UV™ uses the high-tech Porex Virtek® lining that reflects more than 80% of the UV-C light to intensify the UV-C dose at the surface of the object. Porex Virtek® is also UL-F2 certified, meaning it it's a guaranteed barrier against the high energy UV-C radiation. A bit like lead for radioactive radiation. In other words, it makes sure no harmful UV-C light can escape.
How does Blast UV disinfects from all angles?
First, the Porex Virtek® lining has a 360° Lambertian reflective effect. It means that it scatters the reflected UV-C light in all directions, reaching every corner inside Blast UV™. Second, your object sits suspended on a transparent surface, so the UV-C light can reach the underside of your object. These two design features means that you don’t need to flip your object over for a second disinfection cycle.
How long does Blast UV™ take to disinfect?
One disinfection cycle takes 5 minutes. Other disinfectors might boast shorter cycles, but because the UV-C dose is directly related to the exposure time, it also means that shorter disinfection cycles will by definition be less efficient.
How can I be sure that Blast UV™ really disinfects?
Don't just take our word for it. Blast UV™ was tested by Harrens Lab and SGS International to certify the efficacy against bacteria and viruses. The test was not performed with the pathogens up close to the LEDs, but 75mm distance which is the furthest point an object can be from the LEDs inside Blast UV™. And even at that distance, Blast UV™ delivers a blistering UV-C Dose of 80mJ/cm2 in 5 minutes, meaining that Blast UV™ has a disinfection rate of 99.999999% for Staphylococcus Aureus and 99.99999% for Escherichia Coli (tested by Harrens Laboratories) and 99.9921% for the Human Coronavirus 229E (tested by SGS laboratories).
Is Blast UV™ effective in inactivating the Sars-Cov-2 virus that causes Covid-19?
At this moment, we cannot test against the Sars-Cov-2 virus because there are very few Biosafety Labs with Level 3 clearance, and they are largely busy with the fight against the pandemic. Following the guidelines of ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) and TGA (Australian Government Therapeutic Goods Administration), we tested Blast UV™ against the internationally recommended Sars-Cov-2 surrogate which is the Human Coronavirus 229E. SGS International independently tested and certified that Blast UV™ inactivated 99.9921% of the virus Human Coronavirus 229E (SGS Test Report n. XMF20-007600-01).
According to the SGS and Harrens Laboratories test reports, Blast UV™ has a killing log value of up to 8 for bacteria and 4.1 for viruses. What does it mean?
“Log” is the abbreviation for Logarithmic reduction. It’s the standard used by the EPA (United States Environmental Protection Agency) for quantifying disinfection rate. It is an exponential scale where an increase of one Log means killing 10 time more nasties. This means that a Log-2 device leaves 100 times more bacteria alive to breed and infect than a log-4 device.
Let’s have a look at what this means to a colony of 100M million bacteria.
Log-1: 100M bacteria are reduced to 10,00,000 bacteria so 90% reduction
Log-2: 100M bacteria are reduced to 1,00,000 bacteria so 99% reduction
Log-3: 100M bacteria are reduced to 100,000 bacteria so 99.9% reduction
Log-4: 100M bacteria are reduced to 10,000 bacteria so 99.99% reduction
...
Log-8: 100M bacteria are reduced to 1 bacterium so 99.999999% reduction
If UV-C light can be harmful, then what about those wands and other UV-C devices where I can see the UV-light?
Don’t be fooled by the blue light on other sanitizers. If you can see it, it’s not UV-C light, so it’s not doing any disinfecting. Many UV-C devices like the wand models can accidentally expose the user to direct UV-C light. These are not certified as they cannot pass the safety regulations. Blast UV™ is patent-pending triple safety system is designed to turn on ONLY when the safety interlocks are all engaged so the disinfection chamber is completely sealed. If the box is accidentally opened when the UV-C LEDs are on, they will be instantly switched off. In addition, the Porex Virtek® is one of the few high-tech UL-F2 certified materials, meaning it acts as a barrier to UV-C light. These two features combined guarantee there is no risk to accidental UV-C light exposure. UL Laboratories independently tested and certified that no light leaks from Blast UV™ as well as the triple safety mechanism.
Is it okay to expose my phone, my credit card and other objects to UV-C rays?
Yes. While it is true that prolonged exposure to UV rays can discolour certain materials, the level of UV-C exposure during a disinfection cycle is not nearly enough to damage your devices or objects in any way. Unlike many disinfecting chemicals, UV-C light is not corrosive, making UV-C disinfection by far a safer alternative for your objects.
Can I take Blast UV™ in my carry-on bag passing through airport security checkpoints?
Yes. Blast UV™ does not contain a battery, so you can drop it either in your carry-on bag or check-in baggage. Blast UV™ comes with a USB-C to USB-A cable and requires a USB-C power input of 5V/1A. Blast UV™ can be powered by a USB-A wall adapter, car charger, computer or any power bank, so it is easy to use anywhere, any time.
